Leslie Juby for Kane County District 11
Honoring Our Heritage
Investing in Our Future
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve the residents of District 11 since 2022. Kane County benefits from consistent and practical leadership rooted in experience. Successful governance is built on strong relationships, thoughtful compromise, and a clear focus on results. My more than 20 years of service in municipal governance translates into responsible decisions and meaningful outcomes for our residents. Real progress takes time, skill and the ability to move from concept to completion. I have applied my expertise in policy and budgeting to improve county operations and have leveraged personal and professional relationships to help create new opportunities for economic growth. With your vote, I will continue to facilitate the positive change that has begun.

Leslie moved from Park Forest to Geneva in 1996. Much to her surprise, when she arrived to vote in her first primary election, she was informed that the polling place didn't have democratic ballots and she would need to return later that afternoon, . Unfazed, she replied that they should be sure to get at least two, as her husband would be stopping by after work to vote.
Leslie was first elected to the Geneva School Board in 2007. Her focus on student success led the Illinois Senate Democrats to recruit her to run for State Senate against Chris Lauzen. The vote broke along party lines and Leslie remained on the school board until 2011. She ran for re-election but narrowly lost her seat to what was accepted to be her "known democrat" status.
In 2011-2017, she joined the Geneva Strategic Plan Committee. Leslie participated in every aspect of the planning, from the the RFQ process, focus groups, community forums, to the completed comprehensive plan that represented the view of the entire community.
During this time, then Senate President John Cullerton asked Leslie to join a statewide task force to address suspensions, expulsions, and truancies in students of color. The work completed in the School Success Task Force(HJR5) led to the seminal discipline bill, SB100. Leslie chaired the Best Practices Sub Committee and her research can be found in the completed report www.isbe.net/Documents_SSTF/SSTF-final-report.pdf . Additionally, she was a panel member for Understanding Factors Impacting Student Success, and Achievement: Overview of Illinois Trends in Absenteeism, Discipline, and Graduation Rates, Normal, Il.
After the SSTF reported to the ILGA, Leslie was asked to serve as Governor Quinn's democratic representative on the Truancy in Chicago Public Schools Task Force. Leslie put her previous policy experience to work helping Chicago Public Schools update their policies and procedures.
Governor Quinn then appointed Leslie to the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy Board of Trustees as his democratic member of the public. She served four years and met many trailblazers such as Representative Greg Harris and civil rights leader, Julian Bond. Julian and Leslie remained friends until his death in 2015.
Leslie was re-elected to the Geneva School Board from 2013-2019 where she chaired the Policy Committee, was a member of the Discipline Committee, Superintendent's Covid -19 Task Force , Superintendent's Technology Task Force, Superintendent's Communications Task Force, and the board liaison to the Fox Valley Mental Health Partnership. She achieved the highest designation for professional development through the Illinois Association of School Boards. She maintains her Master Board Member and Leadershop Fellow designations.
After retiring from the school board after 12 years, Leslie joined the Kane County Health Department's Workgroup for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity in the Children's mental health grant. She decided to run for Commissioner when the incumbent retired.
Leslie currently chairs the Agriculture Committee, is Vice-Chair of the Administration Committee, sits on the Finance and Budget, Public Health, and Executive Committees. She also serves on the Finance and Executive Committees as a Forest Preserve Commissioner. She is very proud of her work to balance the budget and provide the template used for the 2026 budget cycle. She stewarded the acquisition of 44 acres to expand the Meisner-Corron Forest Preserve, protecting open space for future generations. She launched "Riding in Kane," a new initiative designed to elevate awareness of the economic contributions of equine agriculture. She is currently partnering with the Regional Office of Education to expand Career and Technical Education opportunities and partnerships to create bridges to employment and economic growth in Kane County.
Digging deep into her equestrian roots, Leslie has leveraged personal and professional relationships to partner with Development to advance agriculture adjacent economic opportunities that drive growth and create pathways for Kane County students to learn here, work here, and live here. More to come...
Leslie is excited to continue to facilitate the positive change that has begun for the residents of District 11 and Kane County.
